Doubly Red

Happy Valentine’s Day! It is a day to celebrate love with flowers and candy and special gifts. I wrote a poem about the true meaning of love, found in Christ’s sacrifice. Student Leadership hopes you feel our Saviour’s love a bit closer today.

Doubly Red

Petal upon petal falls failing, year by year

Roses for passion in adoration offered

A love that braves the wilting flower

The twisted stem

Fingers pricked: doubly red

The bristle, the barb, the thorn to bear

The fond care of tender time and precious choice

A rosebush, lost of a rose, adorned in thorns

A holy circlet etched in pain

Doubly red: in blood, love, and offering

A rose and crucible silhouettes of flame

Crowned in thorns, coated in scarlet

Rosette delicate and sweet - wasted by time

Boundless Love nailed to hell

With beating heart and scarred, sacred hands: doubly red
