The Importance of Easter

A baby chicken cuts away at the shell of the egg, coming out into the light of the world. Just like a chick, we too, are reborn by the blood of Jesus. Easter is a time to celebrate the greatest miracle that has ever occurred. Like the love we feel when a new chick hatches from the egg, so is the love of God when we are reborn through what Jesus has done for us.

In a world that is full of chaos it is easy to be swept away from what is good. Through Jesus dying for our sins, we are set free from our past and are “reborn” into a future with Jesus.

Before the time of Jesus, people would take a perfectly clean lamb, and sacrifice it in order to repent for all that we have done wrong. The lamb took our place, because we were the ones who needed forgiveness for our sins, but through God’s love he gave his people a way to be with him.

God gave us a permanent solution. He sent his perfectly clean son to live amongst the broken world, and Jesus died to wash away our sins. Instead of sacrificing a lamb every year to be right with God, Jesus rose from the grave. By rising again Jesus took away the most powerful thing on the earth, which is death. When humans sinned, death entered the world. Death was the one thing that could separate us from God forever, but Jesus beat death and rose again. He took our place on the cross and gave us a path to be with him forever, even after we die.

So, like a chick breaking out of his shell, we too can be reborn. This Easter take time to celebrate what Jesus did for us. He died so we can live with Him in heaven forever.
