Valentines

Valentine’s Day is a day solely about love. Most people interpret that as romantic love, but love is a part of everyone and every relationship we have - romantic or not. Christians know this well, because we know that God is the creator of love. We know that He is so much more than that thanks to 1 John 4:8: “Whoever does not know love does not know God, because God is love.”. Because God is love, he calls on us to love everyone and Jesus demonstrated this while on earth. John 15:12 reads, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

Loving others may seem hard at times, but it’s actually easy once you break it down. Luke 6:31 sums it up like this: Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Loving others is essentially being kind to them, and it doesn’t need to be expensive or “show-y” but rather from the heart. Even if we don’t deeply care for someone, that doesn’t mean we can’t show them a similar love to the love God has shown us. After all, “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” Proverbs 10:12.

Happy Valentine's Day!
